WHAT IS HANDPICKING
In the wholesale vintage clothing industry, handpicking refers to the process of selecting items individually from a stock, piece by piece.
This is very different from buying by the bale or by the kilo, where the contents are pre-packed and largely unknown until opened.
With handpicking, every garment is chosen, inspected and approved before purchase. Buyers can check the condition, sizing, brand, colour and overall quality of each item, giving them full control over the stock they take away.
Instead of relying on the “luck of the draw” associated with bulk buying, handpicking allows resellers to curate their own rails with pieces they know will sell.
At our warehouse, the process is simple. You book a slot, access the showroom, and select your pieces one by one, with our team on hand to guide you through the different categories and help optimise your selection.
The term “handpicking” originally comes from English-speaking wholesalers and has become the standard professional term used across Europe. There is no direct equivalent in French that carries the same meaning within the vintage trade, which is why the English term is widely used throughout the industry.
